Jenna Schlawin, LMHC

Jenna is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) through the state of Iowa. She has her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She has a Bachelors in Psychology from Iowa State University. She utilizes a holistic approach to therapy pulling from evidence based practices, encouraging self care, and addressing barriers to overall wellbeing. She has a background in long term care and being a direct care worker. She is from a small town in north central Iowa. 

Jenna is trained in EMDR and often use EMDR in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic therapy, trauma-informed therapy, and psychoeducation. She likes to look at daily routines to attempt to address barriers with habits and take a functional approach to treatment planning and goals. She utilizes mindfulness based techniques and guided meditations to assist individuals with gaining better mind body awareness. She enjoys educating clients on how their mental health and physical health intersect. She enjoys taking a creative and eclectic approach to therapy because she believes that everyone needs a different approach. She works with ages 14-100, She was a social worker and CNA in a long term care setting for 7 years. She sees LGBTQIA+ individuals and have participated in leading groups to support this population. 

She lives with her partner and three cats. She enjoys hiking, camping, lifting weights, car shows, plants, and anything crafty. In her free time she is likely making a crazy costume, learning a new skill, or getting caught up in a crazy endeavor.
