John Bisenius, LMHC
John is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and has a Master's of Science (MS) degree from Drake University. He completed his undergraduate at Iowa State University with a major in Psychology. He has previously worked in group agency counseling settings, private practice, and community services for children and young adults with developmental, physical, and neurodevelopmental disorders/concerns.
John is EMDR trained, Safe and Sound Protocol trained (SSP) under the polyvagal framework, has completed extra trainings in DBT, ACT, and IFS. John works with preteens (10-12) through all ages of adults. He has experience with developmental and neurodevelopmental delays and disorders, LGBTQ+ population, healing from an alcoholic/substance involved family, and stage of life concerns. John has a passion for these populations as well as aspects of fatherhood and men's mental health, and connection within those populations.
John loves to read, clinical or otherwise! One of his favorite topics is history, specifically World War 2, sociopolitical nonfiction, and the latest workbooks and support books for clients and populations he works with. He also enjoys music as well, so much that he originally went to school as a Music Education Major but fell in love with psychology and the human condition.
