Layne Richey, tLMHC
Layne Richey (tLMHC, MS) received his masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grandview University in August, 2025. His background includes experience in direct care and care coordination, working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, PTSD, substance use disorders, and gender dysphoria, among other mental health challenges. He has had the opportunity to work with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, supporting them through mental health concerns related to identity, as well as the additional stress that comes from this. Additionally, he has assisted individuals experiencing housing insecurity, helping them manage their mental health during these difficult times. Layne is also very passionate about working with clients to help process trauma.
His desire to counsel others comes from a deep love of helping people, especially in guiding them to recognize their strengths and reach their full potential. He believes therapy is most effective when the therapist and client collaborate as equals, working together toward identified therapeutic goals.
Layne has primarily focused on working with adults in care coordination, but has also experienced providing Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) to children aged five and up in community-based settings. His areas of specialization include:
LGBTQIA+
Trauma & Resilience
Depression
Anxiety
Substance Use
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Layne’s goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where clients from all backgrounds feel comfortable. He prioritizes a patient-centered approach, encouraging clients to openly share their challenges and concerns. Ensuring a positive experience and making a meaningful impact on his clients are always top priorities. He believes that building and maintaining a strong therapeutic relationship is key to effectively addressing the mental health issues that bring individuals to seek treatment.
When Layne is not in the office, he enjoys relaxing with his dog, Bentley, and his cat, Parmesan. He is also into video games, sports, and a variety of "nerdy" hobbies. Since he loves learning, he often watches documentaries and YouTube videos on a wide range of topics.
